Text Box: By Jon Bos
I found it a little intimidating when asked to write this article about my Bible class ministry. This is really a ministry of the teachers and volunteers who do all the work. Since I began coordinating the Sunday school program I have had no trouble finding volunteers for teaching, decorating, renovating, anything at all. I am impressed by our volunteers who invest untold hours in Text Box: their preparation and work. Thanks to those of you who have been praying for us, and those who have been doing all the work. God has really blessed your efforts.
For the Sunday school program to continue growing it will take a deliberate focus on developing each child’s walk with God. I encourage you to learn the names of our kids. Remember them in prayer. Ask God to help them develop spiritually. Even more importantly, be Text Box: deliberate in encouraging them in their faith and supporting them as members of our spiritual body. There are not enough words to describe how encouraging is for our kids to know that you are spiritually minded and that you care for them. So please, set aside some time outside of class to build up our kids. If you need ideas or inspiration I can help. Otherwise the best Bible classes in the world would not be much help.

We encourage you to read about how the family spends their free time, what they like to eat, where they Text Box: Feel like you don’t know the family of Hamby well enough? Worry no longer because the Family Spotlight is here! Every month, beginning in September, two families will be featured on the Family Central board (located in the back of the auditorium). The families are randomly seText Box: like to vacation, and their favorite Bible character. The following families will be featured this Fall.

Text Box: to continue to fulfill this role at Hamby for at least five more years, and Lord-willing I will do so. I believe that ministry is not done in 2-3 year stretches, but calls for long-suffering, perseverance . It is only when we truly trust each other that ministry is effective and God breathed. Although there are many within the church that I do Text Box: not know as well as I would like, those that I do have been more than a blessing - they have been an inspiration to the proclamation of the Word of God. I hope and pray that the future at Hamby will be a blessed one and that together we can take text and breath new life into it, and begin to live out the Gospel more fervently.

I feel continually blessed to be a part of the ministry team at Hamby, and I am often humbled with the honor of occupying the pulpit. As I have shared before, I view this as a sacred place and function within the church and try to bring a sense of confession, challenge and renewal through my preaching. My desire is Text Box: “My desire is to continue to fulfill this role at Hamby for at least five more years, and Lord-willing I will do so.”
