Hamby Church of Christ

College Corner

It seems like only yesterday I was starting classes this semester, and now I find myself going for the last time. This can only mean that summer is almost here. We have had a great semester: several students placed membership, some are working with our teenagers, and our average attendance has climbed even higher. Let's end the semester with a bang and pick back up in the fall right where we leave off. Continue to pray for this work that we can reach students and utilize their God-given talents.

I recently came across the following:
A boy was watching his father, a preacher, write a sermon. "How do you know what to say? "Why, God tells me," the father responded. The boy then asked, "Oh, then why do you keep crossing things out?"

It is hard to stay out of the troubling waters of this world. He tells us what to do and yet we still, through our stubbornness, find it difficult to heed what we are told. There have been times in my life when I have crossed things out when I should have put them in larger font and highlighted them (stapling them to my forehead wouldn't have been a bad idea either). Our challenge is to open our eyes to what God is telling us to do and to let His will be done in our lives by taking the back seat and letting God drive.

If God is your co-pilot, you better change seats.
