Wade and I moved our family to Hamby and became members of this congregation in 1972. At that time, Wade was a new Christian. I had been accustomed to much larger congregations and Hamby was quite different. Everything was very close and personal and that made me uncomfortable. However, Wade wanted to stay. So, I gave myself an attitude adjustment and settled in.
On Sunday mornings, we were few in number and teachers. My son, Dub, was in the 2nd grade, and I taught our elementary age group until he finished 6th grade. Would you care to guess who learned and benefited most from that experience? Soon Wade became a deacon. Again, who do you think benefited most from that responsibility? Right again! And so it has been through our 31 years of worshipping here at Hamby.
We have something special at Hamby. We have heart! We have a very united Christian family who love, support, and encourage each other. We have survived many difficulties because we have a group of Christians who, understanding that we ourselves are not perfect, have stayed and endured to work through imperfect circumstances. Thanks to all of you who have helped us learn to be close and personal.
