This past Sunday (November 23) was "ThanksGIVING Sunday" at Hamby. Everyone was invited to bring a sack of non-perishable food with them to the morning service. During the morning service, the time of praise was focused on thanksgiving and was a time to celebrate all that God has blessed us with.
Each Sunday morning, part of the service is dedicated to the children. During that time, all of the kids were invited to the front where they talked about being happy when giving. After that, the kids were invited to receive bags of food from the congregation and place them in the pulpit area. It was a special time for the congregation and a great quantity of food was collected.
Following services, a few of the members gathered up the groceries and delivered them to the Christian Service Center near downtown Abilene. This is a ministry under the direction of University Church of Christ that reaches out to those in need. Jim Clark, director of the Christian Service Center, was very pleased with Hamby's donation.
